POND WATER PURIFICATION

WHAT IS THE WATER HARDNESS (GH) OF YOUR POND?

Best koi have been raised in Japanese mud ponds which have ultra soft water. The median water hardness in all Japan is 44 ppm (2.51 drops or dh or grains per gallon), with Hokkaido being the lowest at 29 ppm, and Kanto the highest at 67 ppm (according to Ayuho Suzuki, Tomoko Watanabe: The mineral content of tap water in Japan. Abstract book, 12th Asian Congress of Nutrition. p.198(2015), and Japan Water Works Association: 2013 Tapwater Statistics Water Quality Edition). These beautiful koi have been genetically selected to shine in these Japanese soft water conditions. Dr. Takeo Kuroki (Founder of the ZNA) wrote: "...the lower [hardness] is, the better suited the water is to the raising of Nishikigoi. A reading below 50ppm (2.92dh) is considered desirable. Mr. Nobuo Takigawa (ZNA chairman 2008-2011) also concurred.

MaSuRO™: PURIFY YOUR POND AND SAVE WATER (less changes but better water)

MaSuRO™ patent pending Magnetic Sustainable Reverse Osmosis technology optimizes water hardness for your koi and removes fish and feed waste, including protein, nitrite, nitrate, etc. It purifies pond water and rejects the contaminants by reverse osmosis. The MaSuRO™ saves a lot of water for pond owners because it produces 90% good water versus the industry standard of 50% (1:1 ratio) for commercial systems and less than 20% (1:5 ratio) for household systems. Take a 10,000 gallon pond as an example, the MaSuRO™ processes 5,000 gallons of dirty pond water weekly, generates 4500 gallons of ultra clean water to put back to the pond, and rejects 500 gallons super concentrated brine waste (excellent fertilizer for plants). So, the owner needs to add only 500 gallons of fresh tap water to the pond (note that a 10% water change is 1000 gallons for this pond) while the koi enjoys a 50% water change weekly, super water savings!

MaSuRO™: BETTER LOOKING KOI AND CLEARER WATER (to enjoy them)

Bring out beni, teri, tsuya, and avoid sumi by using the MaSuRO™ to make your pond water resembles Japanese soft "mud pond" water. Even shiro utsuri koi benefit from soft water! Remember, they also are selectively bred in this water condition. One side benefit is the ultra-clear pond water since the MaSuRO™ takes out protein and other dissolved solids. The bio filter also experiences a lighter load. Another side benefit is larger koi. Koi breeders and hobbyists agree that koi grow faster in “mud ponds” water which is, basically, very soft water from snow-melts and rains. References: Yume Koi, Koi-Bito Forum, Manky Sanke.
